In the last few years, the community has lost some of its oldest residents. In addition to the many personal voids created by their passing, they leave a "lost opportunity" for those both young and old who muse about the history of the region. We mourn their passing as friends and relatives for the loss of their presence. Also, although with less fervor, we miss the Sunday afternoon lost in remembrances of "When I was a girl…”

Could something be done to preserve these remembrances, these recollections? Would a record of these memories serve in a small way to aid our recall of those pleasant times? Would these reminis­cences be considered by our descendants as intriguing and revealing as they have to us?

A project to collect a reasonable cross-section of these reminis­cences appears to be worth the effort at this time. Some written material exists, and several persons still have personal accounts of past occurrences. Therefore, a permanent record could be made of these unpublished facts.

The collection included in this short account of the region has been assembled by such a large number of individuals that accuracy in a list of them would be impossible. Originally, consideration to acknowledge the major contributors was given. However, upon the completion of the project, all of the material provided was used so extensively that none can be considered as a minor contribution; none could be deleted without adversely affecting the whole. At least two hundred individuals have provided something of impor­tance to the project, and a listing (with the ever-present possibility of error) seems impossible.

Hopefully, the publishing of this collection will be sufficient acknowledgment to you who have made it possible.

Over the years, we have been asked if there were any copies of the book, MILLVILLE -THE FIRST 200 YEARS.

A few are spread through the family, but none are available for sale. Even finding one for sale used seems to be difficult today. I have scanned and corrected the errors reported to me and tried to find errors in the spelling, etc. These posts are a second edition of the original book that you may copy for your own use. 

Please do not resell copies. This is free for your use.

I will try to add a chapter regularly.
